On July 6, 2024 the Most Reverend Francis Leo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto traveled to Markham on the ocassion of the 37th anniversary of Chinese Martyrs Catholic Church.

Archbishop Leo celebrated Mass, and had an opportunity to meet parishioners afterward. His homily during Mass was especially moving as he spoke about the ups and downs that people face, and how in these moments of hardship, all are encouraged to replace fear with faith not just intellectually, but from the heart. He urged the faithful to entrust their lives, futures, studies, families, work, and community into God's hands.

"This message truly resonated with me," said Raymond Dau, an Alumnus of La Salle College in Hong Kong, and an altar server at the parish. "I have come to realize that facing our fears allows us to grow in faith and experience the fullness of God's love and care."

"We must recognize God’s free gift and open our hearts to it. Replacing fear with faith allows God's love to illuminate our hearts."

Congratulations to all of the people, past and present who make Chinese Martyrs Catholic Church a vibrant and engaging parish community. Special thanks to Mr. Dau for providing us his insights on this special visit by Archbishop Leo.
